Anyone having issues with dealer part delays?

My 09 ram has been at the dealer waiting on spider gears for 60 days. Yes, it's a warranty repair and of course, its covid's fault and blah, blah, blah....But, this is how stupid this has become, the parts are at a different dealer but they won't pay $80 for the shipping. But they will pay Enterprise for a rental car for 60 days.

I'm told covid has created delivery delays nationwide so I thought I'd throw it out there....

That's Hilarious. I already put 1500 miles on the rental. What really irritates the hell out of me, not one person has called me from the dealership to give me an update. I have to call every week to find out what is going on. I've been going to this dealer for 11 years and NEVER had an issue with them but at this point it just seems they really don't give a damn.

I don't know what to believe or how much to believe. It's unreal how many middlemen are involved in producing, testing, packaging, shipping, and delivering every single thing in life that we rely on anymore. It took 4 months to get my title and tags for my last vehicle purchase. Covid will never go away as long as it's a good excuse.

I sure hope the dealer or the warranty is paying for your rental and I hope it's a truck.

Anyone having issues with dealer part delays?

I ordered some front tension struts for my wifes Charger R/T yesterday and got a call today that they were out of stock and FCA gave them an ETA of up to 20 days and they flat out told me that its possible it could be longer. I searched online and luckily found them in stock at another dealer so I canceled the first order.

In the spring, my rear air leveling system went out. The dealer located a compressor and one rear sensor in Cleveland, one day UPS trip to Michigan. No problem getting parts, had to wait two weeks for the tech to get to it.

My boat dealer kindly blew out my fused link on my Merc outboard in the spring. The part is still on backorder. I took a 60 amp automotive fuse, butterflied it, and used the fuse to bridge the 100 amp fuse that blew. At least I was able to run the engine for the season.

Look at the bright side. Dealer is paying for the rental and once you get your truck back it'll be like driving a new truck all over again :)

Your dealer it telling you a fairy tale.
Ask them if the unicorn delivery is faster.

60 days??? Your repair has fallen off their repair schedule.
Ask them where your truck is.
Why do you need the spider gears? Is this a repair issue or upgrade issue

Supply chains are all messed up. My DEF pump went out 2 months ago. It was on national backorder with no due date. Aftermarket equivalent was the same thing. Backordered with no ETA. I have checked recently just our of curiosity. Still the same status, national backorder with no ETA. Luckily I found one from a large fleet company that replaced their RAMs with Fords. It was brand new in the sealed box at a great price.

Couple months ago my neighbor had a issue, fuel pump solenoid. I told him the issue that he could bypass it, but he had a extended warranty. Dealer told him his rear end gears were stripped. Not sure how they found that when he never complained, but took like 45 days just to get parts.

So, it started with a leaking pinion seal (under warranty). When I got it back the gears were screaming. So, back it went, when it was opened up the pinion bearing came apart and chipped the spider gears.

Just a FYI, in 09 the Ram came with a factory lifetime drivetrain warranty.

Again, the parts are at a different dealer but no one wants to pick up the $90 shipping charge. Instead FCA is paying $2100 for a rental to date. Assine, totally assine.
