Hey guys, sorry for the dumb question, but I conducted a search and could not find a definitive answer.

I have a 2014 2500HD with 8.4AN/RA4

1. Are map updates free for my unit (as implied in some posts)?
2. How do I check to see if I need an update?
3. Where do I get the update?
4. How is the update accomplished?

Thanks for the help in advance.

Thanks for the link! I have it bookmarked now. Does Garmin use NAVTEQ? I've read that the new trucks that use Garmin came with free lifetime updates, so confusing.

I appreciate the help, thanks brother.

It's got a Hemi!
Updates are done yearly, so I doubt there is one for the 2014 yet. On the 2012s there was definitely a difference between the nav units offered. Some (like mine) are Garmin units and some are Navteq units. I don't think they are compatible with each other.

Thanks for the input guys. I think I'm going to try that "assistance" button on the rear view mirror and see if I can get a difinitive answer out of them.

The representative told me that the map updates were not free, and the way to check for updates is as follows:

1. Go to drive.Uconnect.com
2. Navigate to "support"
3. Navigate further to NAVTEQ
4. Enter last 8 of VIN, year, & model of vehicle.
5. Then it will tell you if there are any map updates to include cost.
