My good experience ran out the door. My 2016 Ram Big Horn A/C quit blowing cold air. Checked for visible signs of leakage and found none. Ran the YouTube gamut to provide me with an answer as to why all my freon is gone and what to do.

Took the Ram to Across A/C in Spanish Lookout. This shop is reliable and highly respected for their work. The Lead Tech checked out the system with a "Star-TreK" type instrument both in the engine compartment and in the cabinet. The sensor instrument picked up freon traces in the cabinet and the buzzing could be heard 100 feet away.

The tech said it had to be a leak in the evaporator core. The is no pressure in the system so the freon had leaked out. He proceeded to recheck the engine compartment and said all is good. When I was quoted an estimate, I said, "I will do without A/C". Then my senses kicked in to realize in am in Belize where temperature and humid more than mimics Houston, Texas and humidity is even higher.

The tech showed me what had to be done. He took me to a 2020 Ram 1500 to show me what the job entailed. I could not believe what I was seeing. The dash had to be taken off just to get to the evaporator core. YouTube videos did not show the amount of work it would take. The Tech said it will be a full day job. So, I am faced with a $550 US A/C repair bill and I do not have any desire make this DIY job.

I guess I will eat rice and beans for a month or so to pay for the repair. Such is life in Central America. The upside is the Ram runs great.

I'm sure there differences with the economic exchange between there and in the US but that job here in the states would easily be 3 times that amount.

$550.00 is that US funds ?
If so that is a very good deal !
Here the labor alone would be a easy $1000.00 US + the Evap

That is one sensitive tester to be able to check for a leak with no pressure (freon) in the system, it must be able to check for vapor or residue.
