I've come back to my Mopar roots. I have a long history with Mopar products, dating back to my 20's (Im 70 now). It started with a 1959 Studebaker truck with a 318 and Torqueflite, a 1963 Dodge 330, an early Dodge Ram with a Cummins Turbo diesel, a 1970 Road Runner, a 1970 Dart with a 360 and a 727 Flite.
Well, I ventured away and bought a Ford Super Duty with the International 466 diesel to pull my 5th wheel, then when I sold that with 197k miles, i bought a new 2017 Ford 150 with the EcoBoost 2.7l.
That was to pull our "downsized" 16' toy hauler. What a stinkin' disaster. Nice truck, but horrible mileage pulling. With a robust 8.7 mpg and a 26 gallon tank, i couldn't get from home (SoCal) to Pismo Beach without a fill up part way. Even when not pulling the trailer, highway mileage was 20 mpg at best.
I came back to Dodge Ram with the ecoDiesel, and I'm livin' large. Now 29.8 mpg highway and 13.4 pulling. This is no doubt the best truck i've owned. Just happy to be back.
