Hello All. I recently purchased a 2014 Ram 2500 4x4 Crew Tradesman with AAM 11.5 and 3.73 gears. It already has Nitto Trail Grappler M/T tires. I thought (wrongly) that with it being a 4x4 and with the Snow Plow Prep that it would have the LSD (e.g. anti spin) rear diff. I live in Illinois, and always get a ton of snow. I had been a Mopar fan my entire life, but spent the last 4 years with a 2007 Tahoe Z71 with rear locker. The Tahoe is my wife's now, and I don't want to get stuck in the snow and her come tow ME out of a ditch :).

I don't do much towing and when i do, it will be 5K lbs or less. I would like to go the route of an auto locker like the Chevy's Eaton G80, but even LSD would be nice.

I go off road fairly rarely. If I do, it would be a trip to the Badlands in Indiana, but most of my "off road" is dirt roads.

In Priority, this is what I would like to go with

1) Auto Locker
2) LSD
3) Electric Locker
4) Air locker

Price will be a big thing for me since I just dumped a bunch into the truck. Obviously, with the Air locker, I will need to get the compressor and everything else. Electric, I will just need to tie into the Aux switches.

What kind of prices am I looking at to get this done, and do you have any recommendations for parts?

Thanks,
Chris

How much would the stock LSD cost?

That would be my next question. I know from the dealer, it would be ridiculously high. I have found the AAM heli for about $650 at a few places, but have not been able to find any reviews on it.

BTW - You sig line states "seat mod". What is mod? I have been out of Mopar for a while, and trying to get back in. I owned a 99 RAM Quad Cab 4x4 and a 2003 Ram Sport show truck (plus 14 other mopars). I just can't stay away from trucks for to long.

EDIT - Nevermind, I just googled the mod and saw it allows the seat to fold forward. I think I will do that so that I can throw some tools back there.

I did it so I can put my rifle back there in a soft case and it is hidden and out of the way.

I just did a copy and paste on this info:

Default Rear seat mod
Just did the rear seat mod on my truck. Took all of 15 minutes and cost $5.00. I used 7 1/2" flat washer to add up to 5/8" taped together for easier handling. I unbolted the seat bolts, put a stack of washers under each bolt location, then re-installed the bolts. I still have full lock on the back hooks keeping the back securely in place.

I have a full rear bench so I only had 4 bolts to deal with. The 60/40 split bench will have 8 I believe.

It would be great if a lsd/locker combo was offered.

If you have snow plow prep you have it, how did your detiremine that you didn't have it? Its a helical gear LSD, different from the clutch pack of the 1500.

Power Wagon has it but it only locks in 4low. Other manufactures have electric lockers that can be enaged in 2wd, 4hi/low and automatically disenages at certain speeds.

Looking through my build sheet I see "Heavy Duty Snow Plow Prep Group", I do not see Anti Spin or LSD, just "Conventional Differential Rear Axle". From what I have read, the Heavy Duty Snow Plow Prep Group only includes the skid plate and 180 Amp Alternator. I have not lifted the rear end to check yet though.

Mine listed the LSD as an option for $100 or $120 I believe. I also have the snow plow prep package and it doesn't seem to be included on my 2015.

The Snow Cheif Package comes with the Anti Spin (i think), but I don't think the heavy duty snow plow prep did.

As two separate options?

maybe im confused but I would assume they are separate options. I didn't order it, the truck was on the lot. now im going to look on mopaownerrconnect to check.
