Just got my first travel trailer with the weight distribution kit but the truck is still a bit lower than i would like. Ive thought about getting a set of air bags to maybe help lift the rear end a bit. Wondering if anyone has made the purchase or if there are other options. Thanks

A lot of us run airbags. You should still monkey with your wd hitch till you get it where you want it. Bags are a bonus.

I don't remember where I got mine now but I put the Air Lift 5000 Ultimate on my truck. I LOVE THEM!! Oh, I added the Wireless One kit so I actually use the air bags to help load my trailer. Here's what I do... I usually keep them around 5-10 pounds under normal driving. Once I drive my tow ball under the trailer tongue I pump the bags up to 100lbs and it lifts the truck and trailer. With the tongue locked onto the trailer I use the tongue jack to lift the truck up which of course lightens the bag load so they fill up more to help support the lifting weight. This helps me lift the trailer and truck rear end pretty high which gives me extra space to connect the weight distribution bars. When I release the tongue jack and lower the bags down to 80lbs (where I tow) the WD bars are visibly bent and supporting weight. My truck rides like a dream with the air bags towing my travel trailer. To remove them I lift the trailer tongue again with the jack and once the WD bars are off I release the pressure from the air bags, which lowers the ball and just drive away.

FYI My tongue weight is 1500 lbs. I'm sure your 1500 would be fine with the Air Lift 1000's.

I would recommend them for sure.

I got rid of the rear coils completely and replaced them with a set of hellwig bags. Now I can fully adjust the rear height of the truck just with a minor pressure adjustment.

Even with my rear end lowered 2", we tow our 32' trailer with ease thanks to the Airlift 1000s. I would have liked the convenience of the onboard compressor but don't think it would last long on a winter-driven truck (I don't want a bed toolbox to put it in)
