Hey everyone. I have a '79 D150 with the 4 barrel 360. It was a California truck and came with all the great smog stuff installed on it.
I'm replacing the stock intake with a performer RPM as well as deleting the smog system. I noticed there's a sensor tapped into the intake and did some research to find out it's an air charge temp sensor. This part here: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/...PEpf5v4FB_X1Goujgxg12l2-mZyZoATyxIXlz1nWZ14O6
Is this a necessary part for the engine to run optimally or is it a part of the emissions system that can be removed?
Additionally, since I'm removing the intake, I have the plumbing for the smog pump in the way going from the front of the engine up and over to the back of the heads. What's the best way to get rid of this? It seems like it's a copper line. Should I cut it and kink it off or is it worth while to try and get back behind the heads and put some sort of plug in?
I apologize if this has already been discussed here. I tried a search and was unable to find any info at all.
