So I know nobody likes Fram oil filters but what does everyone think about their air filters. I checked mine today and at 14,000 miles it is nasty looking. Are Wix better, maybe NAPA? Any other brands? I'm not looking to get something like a K&N, just a regular ol' filter.

Won't use their oil filters like you said. But the Fram Tough Guard Air Filter is my Favorite. Compare it to others and it will blow them all away. Build quality and materials are excellent.

Thanks guys. I don't really want to mess around with cleaning a K&N filter. I drive 25,000-30,000 miles a year so I'd probably have to do it every 5 months or so. If I ever buy a CAI then I'll deal with it.

I would think an air filter that looks "nasty" would mean it collected a lot of dirt, instead of letting it get through.

Yeah - that's making sense but it's also good to get a filter that catches the stuff you don't see while still allowing a smooth and fast flow of air - if the air takes too long to get through the filter, it will have a chance to be warmed by the heat of the engine and cold air really makes for good combustion.
