Good evening team,

still at it with my 2017 ram 1500 RWD after a lot of mods i am getting to the point of deciding if adding air lockers since I have a RWD is a good choice to assist me in getting to some off roading and overlanding spots along with having less isssue sif going to the beach on sand? I have 35" tires on 17 rims so the tires should help and some power under the hood with Kooks long tubes and FRP tune but wondering if the air lockers might help? Thoughts?

An Eaton tru-trac will probably accomplish this, with out having to run air lines , compressor and switches. They are pretty much bulletproof.

Search our site for others that have this .

I am extremely happy with this product.

An air locker (or any type of true rear locker) will add quite a bit of capability off-road, especially if you have an open diff. If you have a factory limited slip it will still help, just won't be as big of a difference. But also as stated above a really good aftermarket limited slip/posi like a Truetrac can make a big difference. A Truetrac will keep both rear tires spinning in most situations I would expect a 2wd truck to be in. It's only when you get into hardcore off-road, like rock crawling and situations where you are actually lifting tires off the ground, where you need a full locker.

I run an Eaton tru-trac, even though I have on-board Air ;)

Pretty sure you wont push your truck as hard as I do off-road. The Eaton has never let me down, the big kick in the balls is no one makes a front locker for this POS. So putting all that money in a rear Air locker when you have an open front diff is not only a waste of money but useless AF... lol... So I ended up getting a JK to off-road as the 1500 has it limits in the Rockies. And Now I can actually do some nice crazy trails.

3rd the eaton tru trac. The limited slip is amazing. Cant even tell it's there!

But if you want to go off roading, the first thing I'd buy is a winch. Almost a 100% guaranteed way out. Even if you only use it to winch out trees for firewood, the peace of mind insurance is high.

Tires, lift, winch, 3 wheel drive. That is how I would prioritize my spending.

Some type of portable or onboard air is also a requirement in my opinion. youll use it mostly for tires and air horns, not lockers.

Last stage of an offroad build would be an air or electric front locker but I dont think many trucks will ever require that addition.
