I have a 2019 Ram Laramie Longhorn with 78K miles. My “Service Air Suspension Immediately” light came on about a year ago. I took my truck into Ram and they said the air suspension needed to be replaced for around $2,700. I really can’t afford that repair at the moment.

The air compressor still runs and can even sometimes noticeably raise and lower the truck before the service warning pops up. It does sound different than it did originally and will show an “air suspension cooling down” message when I try to adjust the height manually. I keep the height at normal ride level and the ride seems to be smooth, maybe a little less smooth than originally. Due to this seeming more like a cosmetic and comfort issue I’m okay with not spending the money for a costly new air compressor that still may not fully resolve the issue.

The main problem that I’m having is that the left side of the truck is significantly and noticeably lower than the right side. The top of the left wheel to bottom of wheel well is 2.25 inches lower in the front and 3.25 inches lower in the back compared to the right side. You can also see how the outside of the wheel wells don’t sit flush with the wheel on the left as the do on the right. This is still the case when gas tank is empty.

I’ve tried manually recalibrating air suspension by holding up/down buttons at the same time (which I don’t think my model even has) plus putting “alignment mode” on and off, pulling fuse, but nothings worked.

I am wondering if there is a less costly work around to level my truck instead of replacing the whole air suspension compressor/system? Thank you!!

The truck running lopsided could be from a bad wheel height sensor or one of the individual air circuit that inflate the wheel air springs.
You most likely need the air compressor/valve body assembly replaced. There have been some on this foru that have tackled this repair themselves. It involves being able to evacuate the air system similar to what an HVAC technician does with an AC system and then refilling with nitrogen. If you have a friend in the HVAC industry they probably have all the tools (and nitrogen) needed, you'll need to buy the air system parts.

Thanks you all for the responses. Unfortunately I’m not able to do any repairs myself so I’m at the mercy of the Ram dealership or mechanic. Sounds like it’s going to be expensive unless I just keep driving with a leaning truck.

Find a good off road shop in your area if you plan on deleting the air ride.dont ever take your truck to a stealersh!t for out of warranty work. Will cost you more in the end.

What say is a ballpark fair price for a very basic air delete kit plus installation labor?

Do you think Revel/Air Links would help to level my truck if I installed rising links on the left side?

I'm having intermittent air suspension problems on my 2014. RR sometimes 'deflates' and the service suspension system appears.

Most likely a leak or an issue with the valves.

I haven't torn into it yet, but eventually I see myself swapping the air bags out if it isn't a simple fix, which is unfortunate, because I love the air suspension.

No way I'm paying $2700+ to have it fixed/replaced. It should be engineered to last longer than 11 years.

This can not be understated. dealerships with good service departments are few and far between because most good techs and mechanics leave to shops that actually pay for their labor.

Most off-road shops do a lot of diesel pickup work because a lot of guys maintain toy haulers so by proxy they get the work on those.

Another oprion is shops that deal with private owner operators. they typically work quick but have higher diagnosis costs because the dudes they work with don't have time or money to fling parts at a job

I’ll admit to being a fairly new member and not well endowed in RAM knowledge, but I’ve often wondered why so many Generation 4 RAM owners frequent the Gen 5 portion of this forum. It doesn’t really matter to me much either way but when I see a bunch of comments coming in about what crap the air ride system is I notice that they are overwhelmingly from earlier generations. They are pretty rare on the Gen 5 trucks with the updated system so trashing it on Gen 5 trucks is not particularl useful input when a rare problem one crops up on a newer truck.

Yeah, I understand the 2500/3500 series are in kind of a crossover situation, largely a Gen 5 truck with some Gen 4 body structure and stuff carried over. And that probably explains some of it.

Just an observation. Not intending to bash anyone. Carry on.

I just experienced a warning light as well inmy 2024 2500. I did go to the dealer and they said it needed a software update. Unplugged and reset the computer and now it is working just fine. Total Bill $100
