I have a 2014 Ram 2500 limited. I recently got the Alfa obd system and the mx+ adapter. I am trying to test my climate control system and it is giving me the following message... “Make sure that the car OBD plug pins 3 and 11 are connected to the pins 6 and 14 of the interface. Connect blue adapter or set the switches”. Do I need to get the blue adapter?

I had the same issue when trouble-shooting my HVAC system. I was unable to obtain the "Blue adapter cable" so I ordered some pre-wired OBD components and an empty OBD female shell and made my own "blue adapter" cable. It works just fine.

I found detailed diagrams for this and other adapter cables for OBD use at the following site:

It's not hard, all you need is a soldering iron, wire cutters and screwdriver. Try it!

Why not buy a three way (extension) plug for OBDII and put jumpers in extra plug? No soldering and you can make any adapter needed

I thought the expensive MX+ eliminated the need for adapter cables?????
