My '14 Laramie 2500 4x4 HD Dsl came with air bags. It also has a dash button "alt trailer height". I tow a 5th wheel RV. I raise the front of the trailer with the electric jacks so that it can be unhitched from the truck bed hitch but when I do that the air bags begin inflating and then deflating. I thought that activating the alt trailer height would lower the truck and stop the other airbags from engaging but it doesn't. This is at the least annoying but also could be causing damage to the jacks on the trailer.

Alt Trailer Height just sets the truck to ride at a slightly lower height. It is still auto leveling. So when you are unhitching, the system is going to try to keep the truck level. You have two easy options:

** This tells the system not to try to auto level when a wheel is off. It auto level off.
1) settings->suspension->jack mode

** You can really lower the truck down to the bump stops and hold with
2) settings->suspension->transport mode

I use TransportMode to lower the truck so I can pull out without having to crank my jack like a demon. Love it.

Above 5MPH auto-leveling will go back to normal if you don't change back on the dash.

Thanks dan212. I tried both settings while unhooked and can see that they will do the job. I have tried calling my dealer and the Ram help line and couldn't get the answer!

What's sad is when you have to call tech support for your TRUCK.
