Backup Cam. Use DD Reverse wire or Trailer Harness

should i use the reversve wire off my DDX790 or just use the trailer harness if so what color is it.

ive heard that using the trailer can sometimes underpower the backup cam

I used the wire going to the reverse light. Don't have a problem with it. It only goes on in reverse.

do you recall the color of wire? also did you run the video cable up through the motor bay into the clutch grommet i already have a holr there for my amp power wire

There's a rubber grommet under the drivers side door sill. The transmission cable runs through it already so I bad the hole a little bigger to push the wire through. Than I sealed it with some silicone.

do you remember the color of wire you tappped into? also did you use the trailer ground too or just ground off the frame?

I tapped into the reveres wire not the trailer wire

I tapped into the big trailer plug. The center wire was White with a red stripe.

i also grounded it at the trailer harness.

on a side note. the reverse wire on the ddx is an input NOT an output meaning this should also be hooked up to the reverse lights. when this wire gets triggered with the reverse lights it cuts off all other video/graphics on the ddx and put on the reverse cam.

For running into the cab I trimmed the big rubber nipple that sticks out of the firewall in the same region as the stock harness passes throguh. I have a bunch of extra wires running into my cab for various, and sundry things, so I needed more space than I could find in existing openings.

what harness/module did you buy to connect the radio to the factory harness?

if you only have a basic harness then yes run the reverse light input wire from the ddx to the reverse light wire of the car.

there are many posts on here about obtaining factory wire colors you simply put in your VIN and it tells you locations/colors.

i dunno what harneess i got, all i see is the purple wire from ddx saying reverse wire.
