I’m where there should be little …maybe zero need for a grid heater…. So I figure there’s no need to have Any Risk whatsoever…and I can easily arrange that by taking the relay-to-heater cable off the relay and tie-wrap it to the side.
If the truck ever goes where it’s needed…it can be re-connected. ‘

(The more I think about this, the more I realize I can even install a good old-fashioned electro-mecnanical relay and a cockpit switch to enable it as I see fit.)

I like your solution! Where is the grid heater relay located? I'm going to do the same thing.

And the old starter relay with a switch makes the world of sense.

The relay is located on the passenger-side of the engine compartment, just below the pax-side battery. The cable on the LEFT in the pic leads to the grid-heater and is the one to remove.

Also, here’s another idea how one might make it manually selectable in a neat way by mounting this nearby, complete with cables: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DMNYRCM...JKTQ9XD8X&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_it&th=1

If you have an 07.5-18 it already has a starter solenoid type relay. It’s not solid state.
