I like your solution! Where is the grid heater relay located? I'm going to do the same thing.I’m where there should be little …maybe zero need for a grid heater…. So I figure there’s no need to have Any Risk whatsoever…and I can easily arrange that by taking the relay-to-heater cable off the relay and tie-wrap it to the side.
If the truck ever goes where it’s needed…it can be re-connected. ‘
(The more I think about this, the more I realize I can even install a good old-fashioned electro-mecnanical relay and a cockpit switch to enable it as I see fit.)

And the old starter relay with a switch makes the world of sense.
