I couldn't have done it without him.

Bought a 2018 8.4 Non Nav radio from salvage yard in PA and had problems with GPS and android Auto and the dreaded code -8 and getting it working

I had a stroke in 2024 and haven't regained full strength of my right arm so installing the radio was hard but I got it. installing several times and checking.

After several weeks frustration NAV card replacement and frustration I was able to send my radio to 'SitKneelBend' and he helped me out.

He checked things out and offered a replacement AWWireless dongle to use for connection to get past the error and give me wireless Android Auto connection.

Im very happy with the results.

Looks like you got the DPI settings switched to move the controls closer too! That should be an option in android auto (but isn't) as it makes use of the deadspace on the screen for maps much better. Glad it worked out for you!

I wanted to pile on further for anyone interested. @thebanjoman was suffering from ghost touches after opening up the radio. I suspected it was due to the radio overheating on an early model screen and the inferior thermal pads throughout. I recovered my old UAQ this way by replacing the thermal pads throughout the boards and syncs.

I "think" this should be enough AND I also believe it will help the screens that had delamination issues stay serviceable.

It’s got a Hemi in it
I hope that’s the case. My ‘18s 8.4 was still ghost touching even after I cleaned up the glue and hooked it up.

IMO, mine overheated long enough that it took a liking to the spots my fingers touched the most.
