Hey guys. Brand new to the forum. Just traded my ‘15 Express for an ‘18 Big Horn. Old truck had 2.5” spacers up front and .75” spacers in back. I went with the Zone UCA’s because I got a really good deal on them. Looking to keep my fuel economy intact on the new truck so I’m staying away from 35’s. I’m wanting to put on some 20x10’s while sticking to the 275-60-R20 tire size. Looking to get a set of bils to set at 1.4. Will this be okay with OEM UCA’s or do I need to look into upgrading the UCA’s? I know I’m probably beating a dead horse but I can’t seem to find a straight answer on the 1.4 setting. Thanks.

I ran Bils at 2.1 for 2 years with stock UCA's with no issues ... Last 3 at 1.4 with my Zone lift

Lake Bum I'm fixing to do the same thing on my 17 Laramie. Bils set at 1.4 but staying with stock wheel and adding 285/60/20 tires. From all my studies on this board in the past 6 months no one has had any UCA issues with that setting.

To the best of my Knowledge the upper ball joits don't become an issue unles you over extend them . If that is still true it dont matter what settings you have your Bilsteins at because the strut is not to long when fully extended . Adding a spacer in order to level makes the overall length longer than it should be over extending the BJ when fully drooped , Thats when upper control arms become an issue . Worse thing I know of by maxing out the setting on a Bilstein on a gen 4 is a vibe from the CV shaft which still have nothing to do with the upper control arm. Seems like a lot of people asking about upper control arms lately for wrong reasons. Higher settings on a Bilstein only adds more preload to the spring which raises the ride height and stiffens the spring not making the strut travel and farther.

Thanks for all the replies. I had a 2.5” TGC spacer in my ‘15 and went with Zone UCA’s. At about 40,000 I started getting some vibration. Thought it was due to the cheap M/T’s. Changed tires out. Still had vibration. Assuming it was due to the CV angles. Definitely don’t want to have the same issues on the ‘18.

Bils at 1.4 on the stock UCA's will be fine. Now they will wear faster then in the OEM position obviously if you beat the truck. They should still last the length of OEM interval changes.

If I was in your shoes I would still go for the aftermarket UCA's only for peace of mind / uniball design.
