The thing about it is that it still powers up but I can't get any info off of it. I hooked it to the tv and I can get a screen to come up but it goes into an endless loop of saying it can't fully start.

have you asked daniel or toney they are tech geeks. my boss had a dell that th hd crshed on. he took it to geeksquad and they said it was the mother board. i brought it home downloaded linux(free and legal OS) and it fired right up.

If it werent so old i would try fixing it but it probably was time for a new one anyway. Really i just need some info off it.

pull the hdd. get a sata reader and plug it into your new laptop it will show as an external drive. then you can take what you want off. and even use it for extra storage for movies, music and pics....

well depending on how old it is, the hdd(hard disk drive) will be sata or pata. sata is the more common of the two. here is a monster that accepts all media it seems

you may be able to pick one up at best buy or pay those guys to extract what you want off.

look on page 31 it shows where the hdd is. there should be a screw or two to remove and it should slide right out. any computer shop shold be able to get info off of it for you if you dont want to buy the reader.
