Quit demanding so much energy being an energy-hog for your personal use.
Grow some food on your own property and make as little impact as possible on those surrounding you, and you won’t need to spend My/Our money going up to that dusty rock…

Good luck with that. The economy expanding and technology moving forward isn't going to stop. Individuals returning to subsistence farming isn't going to move the needle any more than we're going back to whale oil supplying energy needs. Selling energy in the modern world is the equivalent of selling shovels in the gold rush.

Everybody wants MORE ENERGY…MORE DATA…MORE TECHNOLOGY…

….. They Just Don’t Want an Energy-Sucking, High-Tech DATA-CENTER Near THEM!

I’m not suggesting Subsistence-Farming for survival. I’m suggesting it for people with Too Much TIME on their hands searching for something TO DO…that won’t screw everyone else on Earth!

I’m suggesting TO those people who Want to Spend MY Tax Dollars on the Moon or Mars…. to get THEMSELVES on board that ship and GO!

AND…TO do it with THEIR money, time, resources, and USE the resource's of THEIR children’s,.. children’s, …children.

As for Me, …I want to take care of Mine Here On Earth!

Gotta shop around. Walmart. Harbor freight. Amazon. Locals like Lowe’s and Home Depot. Needed a torx set to do the tranny bypass. Checked all of the above. Amazon won my money, half the price for the set from harbor freight. Just gotta weigh all the options. Lowes too high. Walmart too.

Nobody wants a refinery next to them either, but we're all using gas and diesel.

As far as space exploration, I'd love to go, but I doubt they take me given my age and complete lack of relevant talent. Seeing space first hand would be an incredible adventure. Of all the things we spend tax money on, space exploration and the resulting technology is easily one of the best payoffs for society at large. GPS alone has had huge impacts on everything from farming efficiency to leisure use.

Cryptocurrency uses significantly more energy than space exploration every year and produces nothing of value. It just turns energy into little bits of code for speculation. The BitCoin network alone uses more energy in 2 minutes than I'll use in my lifetime. The focus on individuals is misguided, just a way to convince people to live with less while the rich consume more and more. So, respectfully, **** that.

I'll live my life to the max my resources allow and consume as much as I choose. Every generation uses the resources it has to survive and flourish, and future generations develop technology to advance beyond those resources. Cities aren't full of wood burning stoves and whale oil lanterns today and in generations man won't be limited to what's available on Earth.

He (they buyer) does have the right to refuse to make the purchase.
I once got sued when I owned a large auto repair shop, because the customer got all twerky over my mark up on parts. She decided that 10% was all I was allowed for a markup. This turns out to be a 5% profit.

She pushed it all the way to court/ trial. She lost. Judge told her that
1) She had no authority to dictate someone's profit
2) She had the right to trade elsewhere, which was already a foregone conclusion, because she was no longer welcome in my establishment.
U generous at 10%. Dealership: TPMS for RAM $73.35. Same part Ma Mopar. $53.00. But U go to dealership to get part and installed there: somehow magically the same part that I can go to parts window that moved 100-200’ to mechanic in bay now $92 dollars on invoice. That’s over 70% higher than Mopar price. So dealer had over 70% profit between 2 markups.

I cannot do ne thing on their 25% markup. But I told service guy at intake desk I already got the part number and price so that saved me the 2nd markup. They slick for sure. By the time I order part and pay shipping and install I am only out bout $15.00 so for that be ok.

I might be an old BOIRD but I do have a clue.

When someone compares (outwardly to me as a shop business) my price(s) to what price level they can do it for themselves or a get a BYB to do it, the first inkling is that ....
1) They have never owned a business
2) They are clueless as to how damned expensive overhead is... Just how expensive is that PRIME freeway frontage property, at the base level? All the other overhead expenses are not magically paid, either.

3) Now THIS is important: They haven't gone to trade school (I have) at a huge expense
4) They haven't invested heavily in tooling and software and don't understand the concept of liability.
5) How would THEY feel if they were met at the door of their place of work and basically told that they are overpriced help, and that some young pencil-necked shave-tail can do YOUR job at 1/4 YOUR level of expense, so either take the pay cut or eat fish heads!?

While I'll never begrudge someone doing their own repairs to save money, please, leave me out of the loop. I do not hazard an argument about my charges, neither do dealers. I don't like their high prices, either, but HAVE had success in negotiating, not hammering them about how much cheaper I can get whatever, where ever. Sometimes, they really pleasingly surprise me. So, just do the job yourself and enjoy the fruits of self-reliance!

Heck, I've lowered my prices to someone who respectfully says something on the order of them having a more limited budget than to try to demonize me because they can get a BYB (Back Yard Bob) to do the same for much less. It's called respect, and alludes to showing that respect for another's dignity.

As an afterthought/ postscript: Would you deign to minimize the worth of say, a defense attorney you want to hire by challenging his/her charges by saying you can get the representation from a cheaper person?

Are you inspired by Ralph Kramden?

Not particularly, I was more into the animated ripoff of the Honeymooners so Fred was my guy.

However I do think US culture would be improved by more people being inspired by Barbara Morgan than Kim Kardashian and Chuck Yeager over whatever sportsball players are popular today.

Scamazon, Walmart, a lot of grocery store use "surge pricing" essentially, when an article starts to become popular, the price goes up. Another thing is their AI is watching what you are looking at. My neighbour confirmed that with me because he had seen it as well. If you click on an object but don't buy it, often the price will go up for you. I saw it myself on an SKF wheel bearing I bought. I went back a week later for another but it was triple the price of the first.

So Friday had us a filet mignon party, had to q up 12 filets. With all the courses, we ran out of forks, seams like an ongoing thing, we always run out of forks even though we have three sets on our parties. Small story, but next day I said dang wouldn't it be nice to have some more forks. Ordered 16 salad forks stamped stainless, and no lie USPS delivers them the next day as in today for a total charge of 8 bucks, as in 50 cents a fork delivered free and quality was rather impressive much better the dollar store forks. Repeat this story monthly with any random need or desire for a product and they do similarly on price and delivery. There isn't anything like Amazon, probably had more then 20 options as well, lol. Target quality at dollar store pricing at door service.

There is no doubt that Amazon presents good deal but, one has to be wary and shop around because they are not always the best deal.

This the worst case of PRICE GOUGING EVER. I am sure.I had been looking on Amazon .ca,last evening and noticed they are selling a (this is not a 3rd party seller), a
MOPAR 203degree thermostat for
$152.00(CDN).PART #52028898AI.
They were selling it a month ago for
$50dollars less.A few months prior,$54.00.(CDN)
This is old stock,as well.MOPAR sells the newer thermostat that supercedes this PART#52028898AJ
FOR $44.62(CDN).......
Look it up yourself if you do not believe me
This is for your hemi 5.7 and 6.4.....
Amazon 's owner (J Besos) new wifey must really be spending alot of money lately, or he is trying to catch up to that trillionaire guy (building Teslas & rockets that go to outer space).I won't even buy toilet paper from Amazon anymore...simply nucking futs discusting!
As the saying goes, "Caveat Emptor". Years ago I assumed that the items listed on Amazon were the best price to be had. I was wrong and have since let my fingers do the shopping on the keyboard to located the best price. I also learned early on, that many Chinese knock-off products are sold on Amazon by third-party retailers either knowingly or not, so that has further steered me away from purchasing any auto parts from them. Personally, I trust Geno's Garage and stick with them for my replacement parts.
