We were en route to BC from the Yukon and navigating those big hills in the peace River Valley with our 2018 ram eco-diesel hundred thousand kilometres on it

we experienced total brake failure crack in the hose and drained out the liquid. It was extremely scary, just wondering if anybody else has had experience seems like a design flaw

Unless something is wrong with the master cylinder, the rupture of one brake line should not have resulted total brake loss. The master cylinder is designed to be two independent cylinders. One for the front and one for the rear. The brake capacity will be significantly reduced if one brake line ruptured but not a total loss of all brakes.

The master cylinder also incorporates a switch to alert the driver if one side of the master cylinder has a failure.

Lastly, a proper inspection of critical items like rubber brake lines is usually part of an oil change or other service “courtesy” check.
