Hey everyone,

I am new to this forum and have been literally researching every ram 1500 model and options for 7 months now. I have finally picked the truck that I want but I still have a few questions.

Truck I will be purchasing:

2014 ram sport 1500 ccsb white with leather and many options. BUT!

I have a dealership that has 2 trucks on the lot that are almost exact to what I want. Trucks are identical in options except for what is listed below

1) trailer brake controller and towing mirrors and 8.4an $1500 more than truck 2

2) it has the 8.4A (non navigation) and sport color matched mirrors

My questions are:

1)can I add the factory trailer brake controller after I purchase whenever I'm ready?

2) is the 8.4a even with the navigation added afterwards as good as the 8.4an?

3) Has anyone had any issues with the new sport either 2013 or 2014

4) how do you like the 8 speed trans?

5) how is your gas mileage with the 8 speed? ( no matter what your truck is used for, I am very curious)

I have researched and asked dealerships as many questions as I could. These are the questions they couldn't answer.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and I can't wait to get my new truck

all i can say is get what you want with as many of the options as you can get it with now. S**T happens and may delay your own upgrades later.

as far as the ability to add options at a later date i dont know, if you want NAV just get it now.

the truck I was set on has sold 2 days ago. They have another one with all the options I want and I just submitted the paperwork. Looks like I'll be a ram owner sooner than I thought.

Does anyone have any insight on this truck that I should know about. Its basically a Ram 1500 sport 4x4 2014 with every option except ram box, sunroof, and air ride.

You will love it! The main thing I wish I would not have cut out of my order is the air ride. putting some air bags on the rear just for the times I do load the truck down (not offend)
Tow mirrors are a personal/ are you going to use them option. I want the function of them but did not like that they were not powerfold or painted to match. In the long run it has worked out better for me having the standard mirrors. My garage is tight. I just towed a 4 place (10' wide) enclosed snowmobile trailer the other day and was fine not the best but still felt good. Adjust your mirrors, you'll be ok just check good before changing lanes. Just depends on how much you use them...

My questions are:

1)can I add the factory trailer brake controller after I purchase whenever I'm ready? Yes but cost more than ordering the truck with it. I think it was around $150 when ordering but 250 if you got it later.

2) is the 8.4a even with the navigation added afterwards as good as the 8.4an? Differences. 8.4a with version 13.38.52 (locked up the other day, see this post Click Here) Personal I did not want the nav if I could not use it when the truck was in motion. I waiting on the lockpick for our radios.

3) Has anyone had any issues with the new sport either 2013 or 2014
There are a few I think mostly electronic related but still a good truck, I drive mine for a long time, last truck was a 98 F150 4x4 Off Road package sold it with 182,000 miles this spring and it was my daily driver from new till then. (Worked alot closer to home then 10mi round trip now it 60mi)
Only other thing is a heat plate vibrating around 10,000 miles

4) how do you like the 8 speed trans? LOVE IT!

5) how is your gas mileage with the 8 speed? ( no matter what your truck is used for, I am very curious) 8 speed 3.21 avg. 16.5mpg (10,000 miles 6 months) The around town kill the mileage. I would trade the 3.21 for the 3.55, RAM switched it without me knowing but still very happy with the truck

Good luck and enjoy!

Correct me if I'm wrong but I read somewhere that if you have the air ride and overload it there is a log in the computer that the dealer can see. If that is the case and you put more weight than you should in the bed your asking for troubke trying to get anything suspension or drivertrain warrantied. That would be a big negative for me, although the park feature would be awsome.

I love my 2014 Sport CC SB with towing package and leather interior. I only have about 2600 miles on it so far and no issues yet. I love the 8 speed transmission and 3.92 rear end and I am getting about 16.5 mpg average driving to work and about 12.5-13 mpg when I am hauling around my fish house or polaris ranger. I also have the towing mirrors and I do like them more than I thought I would. Hope this helps.

Trailer brake is easy to add.

8.4a is not as good as the 8.4an, even if you add Nav.

Thanks cliff! I'm gonna take some pics tomorrow. This truck is by far one of the top 2 vehicles choices I've ever made. Best decision by far, I can't wait for the snow tomorrow to test it out

Congrats. You will love it! :rockit:

Mine has seen snow this winter (2014) and the 4WD auto seems to be working great, as I have barely noticed it engaging. Beware other traffic that may hurt your brand new baby.

Congrats to you as well. I do notice I am a lot more protective with this truck than normal lol.

The morning after I got home it see's it's first snow. Then prob another 14" more snow after that in a week. Got its first oil change the day I got home per the dealers request at 1000 miles.

Tonneau cover and Avs rain guards are on the way. The mrs wants to get the mopar slush mats as a gift. I love this truck. I've only got one complaint and that's when the Eco mode turns on under 2k rpm & under 40mph it sounds and feels like crap. Other than that this truck has over exceeded my expectations
