Can someone tell me what this line goes to?

I found this line hanging down under the truck.

2013 1500 5.7 4x4
One end goes into the rear axle just left of the diff. The other end... That's the mystery.

I greatly appreciate any help I can get. I don't imagine it's a brake line, but at this point, it wouldn't surprise me.

Ok so just a breather line basically. Thank you. I really appreciate the help, I've just never seen one that long. On my tractor trailer, it's only about 6 inches

That line should have a 1 way valve in it at the axle tube
The hose is there for those instances when you need to ford things like a stream of water or ponding water covering a road

Differential breather tube, the end that is down should have a place for it in the engine bay

It's the rear diff on this one, but if it was the front diff then the clip is up in the engine bay.

It's a vent tube and goes up high and attaches on the bed or frame up there.

One day you may be looking around the intake manifold area & see a hose that is connected to nothing, it is a vent line for the Transmission

I have not looked for the front differential vent tube
