Inherited the truck from my father who inherited it from his father. The only way I was able to get it going was to run a wire from the starter, put the key in start position any bypass the circuit. Since there were relatively cheap, I first changed the neutral start switch, and then the ignition switch - NEITHER was apparently the problem. I can't fathom it's just a bad wire and I didn't have anyone to turn the key while I'm under the truck to check voltage to the solenoid. I'm thinking about just putting a push button starter switch.

Does anyone have any other idea what the problem might be? Thanks
