Bought my 2011 RAM 1500 from dealership 3+ years ago. Been taking it in for regular service. Vehicle is originally from Canada. I noticed on the last service record that the “mileage” now reflected “kilometerage”. Everything prior has been in miles. Dealership said it is a Chrysler program they started using, and because of the VIN/origin being Canada, it will be in kilometers and they have no control over it. I checked with another dealership and they said the same thing. The issue is that CARFAX shows the number as “miles” and not kilometers. So my truck with 125K miles on it now shows it has 201,469 miles on CARFAX, and I assume would adjust the value accordingly. I pointed this out to the dealership, and they said if I brought it in for trade-in, they would know, and adjust value based on actual miles (odometer). Sure, but what if I’m selling private party and someone runs a CARFAX and it shows 200K miles, but with a higher asking price because it’s really in miles….. Anyone else run into this, and any solutions? Thanks.
