Hi there, new member here. Just got me a 2017 Ram 1500 BigHorn. Love it but can’t figure out how to connect/add CarPlay to my Uconnect radio

As far as I know it has to be in the version of your radio software...Pretty sure you can’t add it yourself.

I mean you are not completely fubarred. You can buy the newer UAS/UAQ radios and install I your truck. Plenty of threads on here on what you need to make it happen. Aftermarket is also an option.

I bought a kenwood and got rid of my ra4 in my 2016. Kenwood sound quality will beat upgrading to the new version all day, and I retained all my factory options, hvac, heated seats and steering as before in the head unit.

Don't waste your time spending that much on a new 8.4" from a 2018 or newer. Crutchfield will set you up with everything you need at half the price and 1000% better sound quality lol

If you already have the 8.4 screen it's easy to swap one in from 2018 or newer it's a little more work if you upgrade from an RA2 like I did. Not everyone wants carplay so you can always sell yours to help offset some of the cost. Aftermarket is an option too just depends on what you like. I added a 2018 8.4 carplay with Nav to my 2015 and am very happy with it.
