First thanks for any help or assistance. I'm a newbie very few posts.

Big sky country, but recent move to Midwest (Iowa), where my faithful Ram 1500 has developed a apparent sickness.

Background
2011 Ram 1500, quad cab, 4x4
5.7, 6 speed, owned since new, current miles 92,603
Oil Valvoline 5W20 semi syn. Filter purolator
Catch can installed 85,000
Plugs changed with factory replacements @ 40k and 85k. Trans fluid changed at 91K before move.

Symptoms,
Rough idle, after cold start feels like slight miss
When warm, RPMs, 550 smoother but slight miss.
Fuel economy today's run of 110 miles, 91 octane, 17.2 at cruise speed of 75.
Around town 14 to 15, depending on jackrabbitt starts.
Catch can, collection about half full, every 600 to 800 miles, color of a kids chocolate milk. Thin no real smell other than oily.
Truck uses no oil, oil appears clean at 2500 since change.

Questions Or thoughts on slight miss

Why is catch can collections not darker instead of chocolate milk color?

My 2016 Ram (27k) catch can is always dark oil color and is only half full at around 2500 miles. 2016 is almost twin to 11, except 8 speed.

I know I should not compare but I do.

Thank you for any help. This is trucks first real problem, has been trouble free, other than routine maintenance

The chocolate milk color is pretty normal for some normal condensation buildup in the oil especially during colder months and even more so if you do short drives on a regular basis not allowing the oil temp to get up to operating temp of 212° to aid in burning off the condensation.

The 1/2 full at 60o miles is likely due to your PCV being stuck open .
Remove the PCV and clean it and make sure it moves freely , or just replace it as they are cheep and takes less than a minute to do .

Hope this helps !

Do you have a tune for 91octane?? If not, your model calls for 89.

Thanks for reply,

No codes,

will replace PCV as it's never been done.

No tune, but 89 is crap here in corn heaven where ethanol is a big staple. 91 is non ethanol in most location, so that is why I'm running. Mileage difference is 2 to 3 mpg. If i could find decent 89 even with ethanol that wasnt crap i would consider.

Thanks

You might have a bad coil, but I am surprised the check engine light is not on. I would see if there is a code stored anyway.

It could also be a torn/cracked coil boot arcing to the cylinder head or there may be a cracked plug.

Did you do the plugs or did you have them done?

I did the plugs and it's been about 6k miles. I've thought about that, but it did not show up till now. I think anything is possible, to me, it seems if it was a coil, I've have a code. I don't. If it was a plug, why 6k later.

I'm certain it will eventually revel it's self.

Thanks
