So i took my daughter to a vacant parking lot to spin some donuts today. Roads were wet so its easy but after spinning 1 donut the cel comes on and the tranny stays in a high gear so i have to turn the truck off then shift to p then restart the truck. The cel that is left says erratic speed ect so i clear it with my trinity tuner and all is well. How are you guys avoiding this?

14 cc hemi 8 speed w hemifever 93 tune mds off

Not much help, but I've herd that you can get a CEL by just doing a burn out as well.

I baby mine besides occasionally flooring it to blow it out some. Tires are too expensive to waste on my salary!

Depending on how high you revved it to, you might of put the transmission in Limp Mode.
I don't know if it'll clear with the tuner or if you need to take it into the dealer or not.
Every time i light the tires up or bust some donuts, i never had this issue.

I've had that happen in a burnout. I pulled over cut it off started it up and drove home just fine the cleared the code and all is well .you may want to contact hemifever and see if he can turn that off.

I mean the truck should be able to spin donuts without harming anything but tires and mpg...

Not anymore, there's this thing called stability control, otherwise known as nanny controls.Doubt you hurt anything, but the trucks don't like donuts,it ***** with the stability control. Besides quit showing your daughter bad driving habits,it'll be worse by the time she's old enough to drive,so why start her off in the wrong direction.

Well, young whipper snapper....yes, I am a grandpa...and yes I did give you an actual useful response (by the way, it was meant as a tongue in cheek response........but that flew right over your head).

Don't want the light, don't do the things that cause it !!!

You may be young, but the simple fact that you put a tune on it tells me you KNOW there are tons of nannies & protective functions on the truck that are there to PREVENT people from doing just what you did (it's called abuse by the way) and breaking something, then getting the dealership to repair it by lying about how it happened.

My guess is, it had something to do with the different speeds between the front & rear tires, and the gear the trans was in.

If you don't want the CEL...then don't abuse the truck.....plain and simple.

I've done burnouts, & even donuts in mine as well as topping 100 mph....but never got any CEL from doing so.

Maybe my idea of abuse isn't as abusive as yours.

Why are you teaching your daughter irresponsible driving already ?? And why were you even doing such things with her in the truck ?? Guess you've never seen someone wreck or roll a truck in the middle of nowhere cuz they thought it was safe....I have......how would you apologize to her if you had wrecked and she got hurt....blame it on the truck, or tel the truth and tell her daddy was being dumb ??

At least when I drive crazy like that, I don't have anyone else in the truck, or even anyone else around to hurt but myself.

I'm a great driver and thats due to my father taking me out to parking lots and dirt roads showing me what a vehicle can and cannot due. I would rather my daughter not freak out when she looses traction and knowing how to recover and not over correcting and wrecking.

First of all your a hypocrite. You say donuts are abuse but then say you do them as you talk down to me for spinning a donut. Second I'm a 31 year old ER RN who knows more than most about trauma and the like so ****! I am also a professional motorcycle racer and know the limits of tires on wet and dry roads. Third it was a huge vacant parking lot away from traffic we were belted and nothing bad was going to happen spinning my truck.

I bought a hemi for the performance and i like to have fun with my vehicle. Im not abusing it I'm using it and was asking for input on the cel not a life lesson so **** YOU and stop starting **** on threads

This is why we can't have nice things... :roflsquared: I enjoy a nice spirited jaunt as much as the next person. However as I get older those urges transition more and more from real actions to simple day dreams. It should not "screw" anything up to throw the Ol'Truck around "a bit". However, performance from a HEMI in a Ram means something wholly different than what HEMI means in a Challenger/Charger. What I'm saying... Damn what the Hell am I blathering on about? I don't know, forget I was in here! LOL

the truck can and should do burnouts but it has safety measure in place like what happend to you to prevent catastrophic failure cause the dealer can see what was happening right before the failure and will deny warranty it's hard to explain why the computer is reset right before a failure and there is no data.burnouts and donuts are hard on a truck but if you want to do all that then go for it .I say this not to say don't do this and don't do that cause it's your truck so do what you want but I'm telling you what can happen when you do things it wasn't designed for . by the way my 7 year old likes to do burnouts and once waved to a guy in a mustang when we passed him leaving some faint black marks

I fully understand its a truck and these vehicles are equipped with these saftey features for a reason. I've seen plenty of ram donut videos and just was seeing if anyone else had this issue. The truck is fine. I emailed sean he wrote a new code for me to try since we messed with torque management
