My 2012 ram 1500 4.7L engine lights been on for far too long and I've finally tried going after it.
P0441 and P0480
I don't think they're related so I'm going after one at a time for now.
My truck has an ac fan and a clutch fan.
If I start by clearing the code for P0480.
Pull the fan relay out
Turn the truck on.
Voltage at the relay (behind the grill) 14V @ the coil . 14V at the load.
Plug the relay in, fan is off.
Turn AC on, fan turns on.
Engine light returns
Turn ac off, fan stays on.
If I restart the vehicle, the fan is off. Turn the AC on, fan comes on and stays on.
So as far as I can tell the relay and pcm are working to control the fan, but at some point the pcm sees something it doesn't like and doesn't shut the fan off.
I believe the fan is single speed and just turns off/on. I cannot locate any type of speed control resistor, although there is a low speed relay In the tipm. I believe it's unused.
I've replaced the relay and also a swapped the PCM with no luck.
