After many inputs, and 6 months of you tube clips, etc and actually hearing an identical truck as mine with a original 40... I removed my Magnaflow and went to a original 40 series in the stainless SI/DO with 4x18x2.5" slash cut tips. I couldn't be more happier. The sound is amazing and no "drone" from what some people said. I think the key is to have your new muffler installed in the original location, but moved back due to the shortened case of the muffler, hence its behind your cab. With a K & N cold air intake, I have the sound I wanted.

Nice.
Exhaust sound is one of those things that will make you love your vehicle or hate it and varies from person to person. Glad you found the set-up you like.

I was not impressed with my DOD-18 Mufflex on my truck. I hate spending money 2x on mods.

Glad you're liking your exhaust.

I will try to get some clips up once I have some time and decent weather. The maganaflow I had previous was a SI/SO 14." I liked the sound under throttle, but I wanted something where I could hear most of the time. Cruising at or around 1900-2000 rpms was about the same as the Magnaflow. The install wasn't too bad ($300) and I supplied the muffler ($36.29) from Amazon. I couldn't believe the price before Christmas, and the stainless version too! The cheapest I found from ebay was $69. The tips were $66 from Wesdon Industries on ebay, but they accepted my offer of $61 + free shipping. Total was $397.29; not bad for Oregon pricing.
