Sorry if I am highjacking, here is one from firefighters. Being prior military and spending all but 2 Christmas out of 21 yrs with relatives, I also have deepest respect for 1st responders that have to work the holidays. I had to intern in St. Louis while I was going for EMT, well my luck as always, it was in the Christmas time. The one hardest things I can ever imagine is to have tell a family that a family member (a father/brother/grandpa) was killed in an accident on his way to the family Christmas dinner. I was not the LE officer that had to do that, but I was one of the many responders that was on the scene. And to make it sting even harder, the drunk driver only broke a finger.

Not to be a downer, but next time you drive past or next to a 1st responder, give a nod or wave.
