I was qouted $350 from a reputable local shop here to color match my chrome grille and bumpers.

Anyone have this done and have zero issues?

I've read that you have to do a lot of touch ups or resprays and that painting chrome isn't the easiest of things to do. I also don't want to spend 2 or 3x more money to get paintable bumpers.

Are they something that can be sand blasted and then painted or line x'd to color match and have no isseus?

I could also just swap out the grille for one I find online that's already painted with the billet inserts I'm looking for, mostly just the bumpers I'm looking at.

You can't paint unprepared chrome very well, Prepped properly, it's no big deal, but at that point it isn't really chrome anymore - not shiny chrome anyhow.

I was going to do plasti-dip on mine because it is easy to touch up. Have to scuff the chrome so much you won’t be able to go back.

If you don’t plan on ever going back to chrome then go for it.

$350 sounds cheap. If they're gonna sandblast the chrome bumpers then go for it

I would pay that much to do mine but mine also has the parking sensors so not sure how that would work

I don't plan on ever going back. Although I do like the look of the sport bumper and hood, but don't want to pay 1,000+ just for the parts.

I would assume they would sandblast them. That price was with me removing the bumpers and grille and bringing it to them.

The sensors can be painted without hurting functionality.

Just called a local powder company in my area.

If I drop off the bumpers, I was quoted 250 to powdercoat them to match. Pretty good deal I think. Much more durable than painting I'm assuming.

I just did exactly what you're talking about. I had the bumpers sandblasted and repainted. $350 sounds cheap but, that price may not include installation? Either way, I'd hop on the bumper deal. As or the chrome grill repaint, I talked to just about every body shop in St. Louis and no one was willing to paint the plastic chrome grill. No one. So I bit the bullet and bought a sport grill for $250 and had it painted at the dealership for $300. I also had them also replaced the chrome Ram emblems with all black. I'll take a few pictures once I get the truck back from the shop.
