Which is the best cold air intake kit on the market for a 2016 Ram 1500 Hemi 5.7?

I think the S&B looks the nicest but I run the VaraRam as I think it has better performance gains. Nothing to substantiate it other than my thoughts on the overall design of the two.

aren't they all just good looking cause they don't really improve anything but sound?

Unless, of course, you do a tune.

I have witnessed the Vararam knock .4 off the 1/4 mile time on a stock 2012 crew cab, and an S&B take .3 off the 1/4 mile time on that exact truck with no tuning. They dont do much for part throttle performance, but they will show gains at WOT...especially in cooler air.

Cold air kits are a waste of time and money. They offer no performance gains. Got an afe on my 03 v6 ram and my gas mileage got worse.

What was the point of posting that video? It contradicts your statement of "They offer no performance gains". In that video they picked up 5hp at the wheels with the cold air intake system.

5hp is no noticeable difference.

It was on the dyno. I noticed the number go up. You might not feel it in the butt dyno, but a gain is a gain, and they all add up. You didn't say "no noticeable difference", you said "They offer no performance gains". That's not true. Especially when you are dealing with larger engines, not rice burner S2000's. 0.5 seconds off of a quarter mile time from installing a VaraRam intake is a damn big noticeable difference.

So you are basing this statement on 1 poorly setup intake that you put on your 03 V6 model Ram? That would be like me saying all Ram trucks are turds because I once drove a 3rd gen with a V6.

We have tested these intakes at the track and on the dyno. We have seen anywhere from 8-18hp/tq to the rear wheels and as much as a .4 reduction in 1/4 mile times at the dragstrip. Not all intake are created equal, and every motor responds differently to different mods.

When we tested the intakes on this motor, the k&n knocked .1 off the 1/4 mile, S&B knocked .3 off the 1/4 mile, and Vararam knocked .4 off the 1/4 mile.

K&N is better than stock, but not my first choice on this platform.

Your money would be better spent just putting a k and n sticker on the truck.
