Hi all,
Former member who took a vacation when I traded in my 2010 back in 2013 for a friggin' Volkswagen. Ended up paying to get rid of the VW and picked up a Toyota Tacoma; which is a pretty decent truck to admit on a Ram Forum. Anyway, I struck a deal for a 2014 Ram Crew Cab, Big Horn 4WD and I should have it by Tuesday. My biggest question is; where can I go to get up to speed on the 2014? For the most part it doesn't seem to be many changes to the truck outside of the 8 speed? Any new issues to keep an eye out for?

Thanks in advance for any input!

Your 2010 was the same gen so you are right, nothing major. Are you naturally rich or something? You spend more time buying vehicles then I spend flossing for fawks sake. Hopefully you enjoy your truck and keep it a while.

In 2013 the did a face lift the changed the interior some upgraded the radio and added electric steering. The only common thing to look out for is level kits if you use the spacer style they tend to pop the upper ball joint if you want to level go bilstines or ranch quick loaded struts they don't have the same problems ( Max trac came out with a spacer kit that is not suppose to have those issues no real world feed back that I have seen) other than that very similar truck 8 speed has a clunk into first gear sometimes it's just learning... Pretty solid trucks.

Hi Bigdogg795,

There is a lot of changes in the 14 from your 10. Granted they look alot alike but they are not the same animals. electronics, engine management, power (drivetrain) management are all different. There are three controllers in the truck ECM, PCM, and chassis management. These trucks are rock solid, but they also have a bunch of e-nannies to make sure you behave. Still I really can't think of any truck I owuld trade mine in for.
Good luck with the new ride and enjoy,

I wish I was rich...but no. The Ram was bought used and was traded with positive equity into the VW. I've been fairly content with the Tacoma but coming across the Ram let me work out a deal that is cheaper every month but gives me a V8 with the same gas mileage as the V6 in the Tacoma; plus everything else like actually having room in the back seat if anyone else besides me drives it. (I'm what you might call, vertically challenged lol)

Thanks for the input everyone; I appreciate it!

Welcome back. I'm guilty of the same philosophy-so many cars, so little time. 2014 is similar to your 2010, but the electronic architecture underwent a change in 2013 and the interior quality has improved under Fiat. I read that some aftermarket trailer brake controllers would not work correctly due to electronics. Other than that and the 8 speed, similar.

don't have to change your spark plugs for 100k miles now since the spark plugs are platinum.

I traded in my 06 4x4 4dr Tacoma for my '14 QC 4x4 Ram. The Tacoma is a great vehicle if you don't need the size or towing/hauling ability. For everyday back and forth to work, I went from 20 mpg with my Tacoma, to 15-17 with my Ram. I still love my Ram.

Incidentally, that was one of the reasons I bought the new truck. The 2014 Tacoma is rated at 17/21 while the Ram is rated at 16/21. The entirety of my commute is highway so I don't anticipate much more spending in gas. Key word, anticipate lol.

I have a lot of stop and go in my commute, which kills the mpg. You will do much better than me if yours is all highway.
