I have a 3:92 limited slip rear differential that is completely toast
I have located a 2018 ram 1500 rear differential out of same body style with the same gearing
I have been doing a lot of research on this but cannot get a definitive answer on if this swap is compatible.
I am aware the gearing must match
I am aware the internals of the new one to old one are completely different which is why I would be completely swapping the whole units
I am aware of the abs sensor needing a bit of a grinding at the housing to make it work
I am also aware the old rear axle drive shaft may not bolt directly up without some modifications or adaptor.
****The biggest hurdle I have now heard of course this is AI but it has to do with speedometer not hooking up to new differential due to complete different wheel speed sensors ?
What is everyone else experience or thoughts on this topic please.

Use your original sensors, and grind a notch in the end of the axle and backing plate so they fit back in the same spot,or extend the wiring. If your e-brake is in good working order,it might be easier to pull the axles and swap your backing plates onto the new housing. Everything else should bolt up

I was hoping to use the complete 2018 rear differential including brakes
I have read some issues might be

1: the speed sensor and speedometer are completely different plugs mounting location and the tone sensor all are a different animal and could put transmission into limp mode if it does not get correct speed readings.

2: the rear driveshaft for a 2018 eco diesel with 8 speed transmission
May have different ujoint or mounting plate and might be a different size compared to my original 2010 ram 1500 with a 5 speed tranny the length the mounting plate to the pinion on rear differential will be different than my original driveshaft.

I am afraid if issue #1 and #2 arrive I could be dead in the water or spending unnecessary or excessive funds getting custom drive shaft made or with the speed sensor limp mode issue after I get custom drive shaft:driveshaft work the money spent will me more than getting my blown up differential just rebuilt ?

Has anyone else attempted this in this forum?
I know 2018 is last year it will physically mount to my 2010 but want to know if this has been attempted and if the speed sensor or driveshaft became a expensive issue or mistake
