I've got a 2019 Ram Hemi, 8HP70 trans, 4WD 80,000 miles. I'm hearing a whining noise from either the convertor or trans, the whine changes as the trans shifts. The other day it was 40 degrees and when i drove the truck it was louder than usual. Any suggestions?

Have you checked the transfer case fluid? I had a whine for time, and mine turned to be the rear diff. Changed fluid and all is good now.

As a matter of fact I just serviced all of the driveline fluids. The whine is still there, it sounds like it is coming from the bell housing. I'm thinking convertor or front pump?

Bump. I'm having a similar issue: in the last 2k mi or so, I'm hearing a whining noise in the low gears (1-2/3) that corresponds to the engine rpms and gear shifts. I had a transmission, transfer case and diff fluid service about 15-20k miles ago. I just hit 90k miles on my odometer and started receiving this intermittent flashing message on the dashboard that goes away quickly but says something like "service transmission, don't turn off vehicle or put in park". It just started appearing after I hit 90k, so I'm not sure if this is just a standard service schedule notification or if it might have something to do with the whining noise. I plugged in my scan tool (Innova 5610) to read the TCM codes but it comes back clean, no DTCs at all on any system. I'm also wondering if the whining noise might just correlate with the winter season; it has been getting down below freezing fairly regularly for the last 1-2 months (midwest). But I don't remember hearing this noise during previous years. I don't tow or haul anything, but I have been running the DiabloSport 91 pcm and performance tcm tunes for about 30k miles or so. So, is it just regular cold weather moans/groans, do I need another fluid change, or is my transmission needing some professional help? Thanks in advance for any insights!
