Could these finally be "the" LED headlights?

I was browsing the world wide web and I found these headlights

9006 LED headlights

No relay harness is required, Direct plug in to the factory socket

Output Power: 22W

Voltage: DC10V-DC32V

Lumens: 2200LM

Life-Span: more than 30000hrs

Color Temp.: 6000k

Construction: Die cast aluminum

Cooling: Integrated Fan

DOT certified

Energy star compliant

80% energy savings over halogen bulb

For $149 dollars they seem like a not bad deal, just a hair cheaper then a good HID kit. No reviews yet as I believe there still doing pre-orders, but I'm hoping it gets really good reviews as I think they'd be a good alternative.

Only problem is if our finicky Dodges will accept it and not throw codes.

Everyone else's thoughts?

Yeah it could be promising. Like I mentioned I think biggest problem may be our canbus systems but who knows.

As far as brightness what does your typical 55w HID kit run at for lumens?

32-3500 on the HIDs.

I had a guy with a set of '13s that put LEDs in them. They had a ballast, but the fan stuck past the dust cap. he said they were nice......but could be better.

The out put won't be great. It will glare bad, just like a HID kit in a halogen headlight.

you know.........those are almost 250 a pop right?

90mm = 3.5" - a bit large for the '13s. Though..........it would be spiffy!

They have had replacement headlights similar to these for Harleys for a year or two now and the new 2014s are coming with something like them from the factory. I know the aftermarket replacement ones were pretty decent lights.

i noticed the cost, but i watched a video about the new penske trucks swapping to the truck-lite led based lights on the rental truck fleet. which one thing lead to another and i stumbled across those led projectors. which is a good thing because even though these are mostly only available for commercial vehicles and select models the automotive aftermarket moves very fast and it will be a matter of time before these are available for passenger vehicles, just give it a few years. either that or the little china people will probably be quick to reverse engineer these and sell them for $1 on ebay soon enough. just saying they always do.

it would be pretty sweet though with everyone swapping to Xenon lights, having the first pair of DOT approved LED headlights would be pretty awesome, from a retrofit prospective.

If reliability, longevity, and ease of install are all there, I'd be all over these like stink on ....!
