Do they have 55w?
Is there a noticeable difference between 35w and 55w?

Yes

55w Pros
- Brighter
55w Cons
- Color washing
- Runs hotter than 35w
- Shorter bulb life
- Might be too intense for driver's eyes
- Takes longer to reach temp / brightness

So if I have aftermarket headlights with a H1 bulb, is that the kit I need? Will it plug up to the factory wiring on my '16?5dd66209e2ec6c304d1272801dc0c54d.jpg

I have no experience converting to H1. I know you will need a 9005 ballast to connect to your factory harness. You may have to buy H1 bulbs separate for your aftermarket housing.

Lows are either 9005 or 9012. Highs are 9006.

My 2016 projectors are 9005 highs and lows from factory,

For highs I went with Philips 9011. They have more lumen therefore brighter and shoot out further. If you scroll back you’ll find how to retrofit them. You can also retrofit them as lows as well.

Lots of people also use LED highs. The challenge there is finding a set to fit under your dust cap with a cooling fan. I think the answer would be to buy a pair which use flexible heat sinks.

I didn’t cut a big hole in mine, I clipped a small notch about 1/4” on the lip just enough to feed the wires thru then put lid on and put a small amount of silicone around that.
Can you please provide a picture. I think this is the route I want to go

Here is the Retroshop video showing where to cut, I think it's around the 4 to 6 minute mark

Thank you. Are you able to think why my lights would work without the extension and not with the extension. I ended up installing the same way in the video but I clipped the cover instead of the main housing.

Today is exactly 1 year since I installed all of my lights and posted this thread. I’m happy to report no issues with any of them, knock on wood.

I’ll update again next year, or if I run into any issues prior.

By extensions are you referring to the resistors/relay harness?

If it’s working without them then leave it off, some kits like the DDM don’t require it so you have a much cleaner simpler installation.

Its moreike a pigtail that makes the connect longer. Similar to the one in the video he stuffs inside.

Decided to upgrade my high’s with LED’s today. The LED’s worked fine, BUT my passenger side HID would not come back on... I tried everything short of replacing parts.. So I got fed up, replaced my HID’s with the Phillips 9011’s and replaced my highs with the original 9005’s.. I’ll eventually replace my highs with Phillips 9011 again. I’ll also remove the weak a$$ morimoto fogs and reinstall the factory fogs which provided more visibility with Philips 9012’s... I’m simply not going to waste money on mods that quit working for no good reason..

What would you guys suggest for install? alphaobd settings? Do I leave anything out of the DDM install if in going to use alphaobd and set to hid?
Was planning to set fogs to not drop out ..... Any other suggestions?
