Well I finally got to debadging my truck yesterday. Sadly as it turns out my driver door has been repainted in the past. and instead of taking the badge off the way you should, some jack ass just painted around it... now there is a ****** up layer of paint that is screwed up due to taking the badge off. body shop said the whole door will need re-painting. estimated it around 500 bones... FML.

this will be the first paint work I have ever had done. does this price sound good or bad?

thanks

$500 for a door seems a little steep to me. But, paint prices vary greatly from location to location. My buddy just had a ram air hood painted for $250 out the door.

If they are color matching and feathering the surrounding paint then that sounds like a reasonable price if they do quality work.

Considering you can get a whole hood painted for around $350, I think its a little on the high side. Ask a few other places to see what they say and the see if you cant get one shop to budge a little.

Depends on the color too. Reds and oranges tend to be higher. My truck is orange and paint is $$ for it, but I had damage on the left bedside repaired, paint blended and whole bedside re-cleared all for $500.

Sounds about right. Repainting the whole side of my truck after it got keyed was $1,500+ on a regular cab

Yeah the color is a big factor. When I got in an accident with my Dakota I know the Inferno Red paint is what they referred to as a tri-color, meaning they have to mix multiple reds to get the color of Inferno Red, hence a higher cost to paint everything. Not sure what color your truck is, but perhaps color could be a factor in the price.

if its the same white as mine, that paint code has been used since the 80's...we just redid a ding and scratch on my bumper last weekend...(buddy is a painter) but look around, you def want it blended, which may mean into door..
