Alright, I have an 03 with the 4.7. I'm looking to upgrade to a Hemi. I have 2 that I'm looking at. An 07 and an 04. Both are black with the chrome bumpers. The 07 has about 8k more miles. I know they changed some in 06 like the front bumpers and headlight area, and to front coils rather than torsion bars. Are there any other major differences in choosing one over the other? And How do these differences affect driving, handling, etc.

Sorry for the writing a book lol

In 2006 they went to MDS with variable valve timing in the 5.7L 1500 series trucks in an attempt to boost mpg.

^No. In 2006 they went with MDS. In 2009 they had VVT. Hemis from 2006-08 are essentially the same from what I know.

03 has valve spring issues, 04 fixed that. 05 is arguably the best year for tunability for 3rd gens period.

Thanks guys. I Thought the motors were pretty much the same, with the exception of mds. I was wondering a little more on the differences in torsion bars and coil springs. Is one better than the other? And if there are any other major differences that would make one better than the other (or more reliable). Doubt I'll be getting any tuning done.

I have no experience with torsion bars, but I know that they react negatively to extreme tension when doing a torsion "crank". I think coils are better for longevity.

I have an 03' 4x4 with my torsions cranked and have had no issues with the bars at all. I think the torsion bar trucks can fit a slightly wider tire with less lift than a coil spring truck.

I believe the interior is different I think 06+ changed seats from the 02-05 trucks as well as minor dash pieces

Hi guys, I have an '03 RAM 1500 Quad Cab, with a 4.7 and I was wondering has anyone had an issue with excessive moisture build up in the floor of their truck? I have checked around the exterior of the rear window but have not noticed any wear or cracking of the adhesive it could be coming from the rear cabin air filter, idk. Any thought s or ideas would be appreciated.

You should make a thread concerning your post since it has nothing to do with this thread.
