I've searched and read most posts I can find but haven't found anything relating to what I'm hearing. Best I can describe the situation is if I'm coasting and add a little throttle for a slight hill I'm hearing a popping sound from the exhaust. (better description of the sound would be a large diesel truck using an engine brake) The sound goes away with increasing throttle pressure. It usually happens when cold but not always and not easily repeatable. I've checked the exhaust system and couldn't find anything. What puzzles me most is the infrequency of it happening.

Sounds like MDS going on or off. Disable the MDS by using manual gear selection (just set it to highest gear needed for the situation and then leave it alone) on the steering wheel, then drive around and see if the noise is gone.

Thank you Dredger an Mojo88. After some more examination it seems it is happening transitioning from the "ECO" light being on and accelerating if that makes sense.
