image.jpgHey guys! I’m noticing a drastic decrease in my fuel mileage…. This truck has an check engine light, and reads as EVAP-system. My gas is not visibly leaking… no leaking of oil on any exterior… the only possible Issue I see is provided in this picture, pointed out! I hope someone knows about this & can help with this issue!

Try posting in 2 nd gen section. There are folks with 5.2 engines there. 4th gen has 5.7, 3.6, 4.7 and a few 3.7 engines. I think you’ll get a better response over there.

I had a ‘04 Dakota 4.7 for 15 years. What your pointing at is the small power steering radiator which has nothing to do with the evap. When you say code reads as evap system or evap leak? If leak it could be anything from the gas cap to any of the rubber lines. Through the years I had to replace some lines that had cracked. Driver side under the vehicle was a small box with 2 lines going to it and if those cracked causing a “medium” evap leak. Also in the front of the engine on the the drivers side by the headlight is the evap leak detection pump and charcoal canister, maybe the pump stopped working. This is assuming things are the same between the 2 years other then the engines. Good luck
