I didn't get the gym bag, but I did get 4 more visits to the dealer for CEL. My 24-month extended warranty has 9 months left, and I am terrified. DO NOT DO IT!
It’s not 24 months , it’s 48. Read the warranty it will give what it covers , plus it’s right on there the 48 months on the warranty.

And there lies the problem. “ I am wrong about it gumming up “ , your quote . So much misinformation including yours about this recall .

I have to guess you got the recall , and have had issues ??? If not then whatever you’ve read , you took as gospel, and you assumed it gummed up the dpf because you read someone had said it did ???
You have a problem with me admitting I was wrong? I tell you that guy who admits he is wrong is a HUGE problem I tell you, lol. There is zero benefit for any truck to get this recall, only risk, and thanks to respected members here setting the record straight gumming isn't one of them. Thanks for your summation disguised as a little child tantrum, it was very beneficial to this thread.

The point of this thread was to highlight the issues with the recall and the warranty and the multiple reports of trucks failing right after the recall and owners who get no support because this "great" warranty doesn't warrant any of the reasons for these failures. I'm sorry this helpful information to the masses hurts your feelings so badly. Do you get that yummy gym bag?

That's right, do a search. This doesn't benefit you in anyway and the horror stories are plentiful, so why put your truck at risk? Today your truck is running great and tomorrow after recall it wont be and the dealers cant do anything about it and your warranty is long gone, and read the warranty you get. Dealers aren't or cant help you, get the recall and then go out of pocket for the repair if you can get it. Just don't fall for their gimmicks. just be informed before you make a decision nobody cares about your truck, your exposure, your pocket book, your feelings when their mistake costs you, except you, but then guess what? What? Its too late.

Its a software recall and the "new" warranty doesn't cover... wait for it.... software.
That’s a Lot of fear and suspicion without much support (and an incorrect statement about warranty.)
I don’t have a dog in this fight, having checked my VIN against the recall and I’m piszed that some folks are gonna get less EGR and a Yeti Cooler and an extended warranty and I’m NOT.

Anyway, it seems to me that Cummins learned their lesson about cheating the EPA rules and have discovered they’ve made a potential error they are anxious to correct before they get slammed again.

I had it done on mine and I did notice that DEF usage went up some when towing on our recent trip.

You've seen what the warranty covers I'm sure, but it doesn't cover software. I encourage you to search what guys are going through. Get recall, no truck, dealer shrugs, most of these trucks are completely out of warranty. All this warranty covers is what is listed, and that is not the issue.

You shouldn't have to try gimmicks to get guys in for a recall, unless well there is no benefit to you to get it.

As I understand the politics involved, the farmers in Minnesota lobbied their State politicians to get Bio Diesel made the only diesel available in Minnesota. It is crap and the reason that I am glad to never again need to fuel up in Minnesota.

And yes, the state is very Democrat, but I would wager (based on signage seen during last year's election) that farmers are mostly Republican.

No *********s, just greedy businessmen cornering a market.
Your opening …vs…your closing statements…. Clarify your complete lack of knowledge of politics.
I’ll simplify it for you: R’s are for Big Business. D’s are for working people.

No hurt feelings here . Just not a fan of I read it on a forum , gotta be true .

So I had to replace an actuator, pretty common on the 2014 6.7 , also both upper , and lower NOx sensors. I haven’t had the recall , who should we blame those on ? Now I read from Joe Blow on a forum two months after the recall he got codes with nox sensor issues , so let’s blame that on the recall , get my point . Oh , by the way those Nox sensors are covered under the recall warranty, if you’ve bothered to read it .

I just think there is a lot of misinformation on these forums regarding this recall , you might want to post some actual information about this software issues you keep posting. I’ve read SCR , NOx senors , which both are covered , even the DPF on the newer model years under the recall warranty. Will have to read again if there was some EGR coverage on the newer trucks . And it’s 4 year , 48k warranty.

I didn’t see it as a Gimmick…. I see it as Cummins creating a convincing argument they really REALLY tried to “do the right thing” and correct their previously defective software…. in the event they get pulled into an argument with EPA. It’s not a Safety-Recall…so there’s no mandatory reason an owner would be interested in complying…unless there were a carrot on the end-of-the-stick.
They don’t want another multi-Billion-$ penalty.

Cummins did not cheat the California smog idiots test, the CARB idiots tested many 6.7l engines truck for 5+ years to find a scenario where the engine produced more nox then com mie CARB believed it should and went as far as to claim they did not get some sort of paperwork about it, so Cummins lawyers felt it was faster & cheaper to pay a fine then drag it out in court
