So, my in-laws came over for mother's day and like any good family man would do... I snuck out to the garage and "accidentally" lost track of time!!! :superhack: :buffer:

I have been wanting a nice strong mount for my tablet, because I use it for audio tuning and also as a music source.

Here is what I came up with:

Found a flat piece of aluminum in my scraps bin, cut out the general shape I needed, got it really hot and bent it into shape, ground and cleaned it up with the Dremel and a file, wet sanded it with 220 and then 800 grit. Drilled some holes and mounted it. I had already bought the magnetic phone mount off Amazon a couple months ago.

"No, that isn't a small aluminum ***** on my dash!" :roflsquared:

I have been spending alot of time at Mercedes dealers lately (a little business I do on the side), and that is where I got the inspiration for the placement of the tablet.

Btw, the interiors on the new Benz are absolutely stunning. That screen is not a pop up, it is permanently mounted in this aluminum frame that isn't even molded into the dash. It's sooooo cool! Here some pics:

Thanks man! It was sheer luck that the tablet is the exact width it would be if it was built for that spot, lol!

Oh, and because of the camera angle it looks way more obtrusive than it really is, it doesn't block vision at all.

hey David off this thread topic but I saw pics of the sound deadening you did on your doors and was wondering how you attached the mlv and CCF. I've seen some people use velcro and I was wondering what you used.

The stuff I used is self-adhesive. Basically, peel and stick.

Does it vibrate when you hit a bump? Cause then it falls into a slightly different category of "marital aid."

Now I've got a bad vision of seeing this truck going down the road with a bare ass in the center of the windshield instead of a tablet! AAAAHHHHH!! LOL! "Come on honey, find the speed bumps again!"

Seriously, though. Nice job on the vibra... uh, mount. That still didn't sound right.

Nice job on the tablet securing device for your truck! :waytogo:
