Im looking at getting this pair of lights. ebay lights I am thinking of ditching the HID's from ebay and put in some different HID's from JJ.. Are these housings going to work ok? I am not sure if those are HID or Halogen projectors.. Also would the halos run as my DRL??

The ebay lights you linked to have a Halogen projector with a rebased HID.
I highly doubt you will be satisfied with the output of them.

You could order TYC replacement lights, and the projectors from JJ.
Do the retro yourself, spend more than above, but be greatly impressed with the results.

I like the way you guys think!

255 shipped on that set above........

Pros:
- cost
- not a horrible looking set of lights, I ran the chrome version in my 08. :D

Cons:
- I highly doubt they will send a harness that will work right with your HIDs
- projectors are subpar performers. ...... Not the WORST out there, but they aren't anything to write home about either.

I'm going to set up a DIY kit on my site tonight. Will come with ALL the components needed for an install. Headlights, projectors, shrouds, sealant, HIDs, etc. I can't touch 255 shipped, but for the difference it will give you a real set of HID projectors and a set of HIDs that will work with your truck. OH, bixenon too......those are just HID low beams there.

I'll have that up tonight!

I should give some meat to my argument.

On my '99 Ram, I bought ebay projector lights (similar to the above) with 'drop in' HIDs.
I was so unimpressed I put the stock lights back on, and took apart the Ebay lights.
Ended up retrofitting a TSX projector into them. I couldn't believe the difference a good projector made!

I'm running my 4th set of retro'd lights, long story, but they are awesome.
Save your pennies, and do it the right way the first time.

So JJ you are saying if I get a set of HID's from you with a harness, they would not work in these housings? I really would like better quality HID bulbs than the ones that come with those ebay lights.

I am taking a 2000 mile trip next month and the stock lights are just terrible.. I am looking for something that will give me better light and not break the bank. The lights that are in the truck now are from 2006, so maybe just some silverstar ultra bulbs will make things good enough until I can afford full projector setup.. I will keep an eye on your site for the kit and go from there I guess.

I have a 2006 as well.. I'm sure JJ is tired of seeing my posts saying how much the lights suck.. because they do... anyways, the SilverStars are probably the best bulb out there for the lights... The PIAAs are white light and make it hard to see into the distance, silverstars are a more amber hue so its easier to drive with. Although I could drive with the silverstars alone, I've added 4 driving lights to my front light-bar to make things easier on me when we do our road trips.

The Philips bulbs (Stock/OEM I think) that were in the truck when I bought it were un-drive-able IMHO.. Couldn't see hardly past the hood.

Oh they would.....but the projectors in those aren't really made to be the best for HIDs. They are made for halogens. More of a pencil beam, etc.

Didn't get a chance to get the kit on there, but I can tell ya what would be in it, and pricing here:
New lights - 160 (07-08 lights)
Projectors, Shrouds (mini gatling), butyl sealant, dust caps, bixenon wire - 117
Economy HIDs - 90
Total would run 367 shipped, on a package deal, 340.

That would be EVERYTHING you need to do the job. :hat:

while buying the stuff and doing a retro with JJ's parts will be the way to go for the best output you can get, those ebay lights are not a bad, they have good output with HIDs, they are easy to adjust, the adjustments are the same as factory, and if you like the look of the Halos and LEDs on them, then your set, be carefull on ebay, they started to release that set with LED halos that are dim, make sure it says CCFL halos if you buy those, the CCFL ones are really bright.

here is a comparison side by side of my retro with what jeremy sales and this light, (just so you can decide what look you want

any questions on that set of lights i can help you with, i have 3 sets of them laying around lol

i wouldnt worry about the bulbs they give you with these, my friend bought that setup and they were fine on his 07, just make sure you get a low temp bulb like 4300k, 5000k, or at the highest 6000k, if the worst case would be that you need to buy a relay harness from jj to make them work flawlessly, thats what i did with mine was use JJs harness that he sales
