Embarrassing newb question

Hey everybody,

A little background. I recently purchased a 2009 2500 (4wd, 5.7). Immediately afterwards I was fortunate to find my dream topper (MX with a walk in door) on Craigslist. Unfortunately, it came off of a 2003. I even went so far as to contact A.R.E. to find out if it might fit. They said no. But when I looked at parts catalogs it showed the exact same replacement tailgate for for both 08s and 09s. I went ahead and made the 200 mile trip to check out the topper. Low and behold it fit perfectly. So my question is this,

What generation is my truck?

What he said 3rd gen 2500 was 03-09 and 4th gen is 2010- present

The OP was motivated by two things. One...to explain why I was confused about which generation of truck it was. Two...it was my first post of any consequence. I thought it might serve as an introduction of myself to the board. Apologies if it didn't follow forum protocol.

I'm running the "09 1500 tonneau on my '04 without issue. I did check bed dimensions before running it though. I agree with the others, you shouldn't have any issues since yours is an '09 2500 short of long bed short bed issues of course.

Nothing fancy. Just an ST with 170K. But apparently someone just replaced the dash and door panels. So it looks new inside. First order of business is to replace the upper and lower ball joints. (Not terrible but they have a little play). Then get the topper painted to match. Plastidip the front chrome bumper. Grill guard. Fender flares. New rubber. Simple black rims. Maybe plastidip the rocker panels. I know plastidip is a controversial issue around here. Please don't get fired up about it. Trick out the topper. Power inverter. Sleeping platform. Slide out drawers under it. Etc. Oh yeah...figure out why the gas cap warning and low tire sensor won't shut off!

Another unrelated question...while I have your attention...what's the most popular aftermarket Bluetooth touchscreen stereo for this model? With regard to ease of installation.
