Sounds like a belt or pulley. Whine increases when throttle is applied. Any thoughts or suggestions.

Not yet. It still does it, but it seems to not do it until I've been driving for a while. Trucks in the garage for the week. Will try to narrow down the cause of this, my water leak and the air suspension lowering a little overnight when I get home again. Then off to the dealer it will go. A pain becausr the air has to sit overnight to see that it dropped, but the whine requires a good drive to get it going so getting them both faulted on the same trip may be difficylt. The leak I just have to keep soaking spots so I know what it is. If its the 3rd brake I'll fix it if its anything else I'll get the dealer to do that too.Did you ever figure out what it was?
Mine had a transmission leak and they had to replace the pan so I'm a little concerned something got messed up then or 1 problem led to the other. Thes transmissions are a real pain to check fluid level on though. Wtf is wrong with a dipstick?I was curious because I had mentioned to several people, mine sounds like it had a supercharger whine. Almost like an old Ford power steering pump running dry.

Still making the noise intermittently. Still unresolved.Sorry to bring a thread back from the dead, but did this noise ever get resolved? I think I have something similar going on in my truck, started recently.

The dealer includes fluid level check and top up with an oil change, but somehow I doubt they check the zf given how complicated the procedure is.That sucks.
The trans in mine has never been touched, but I too am paranoid that might be what it is. Either incorrect fluid level from the factory or something internal.
I know that they do not touch the trans as it comes from ZF, it just gets put into the drivetrain. Seems silly to have that much faith in the supplier that they got the fluid level correct, etc. without at least checking it. Makes you wonder if anyone ever got an underfilled, overfilled or internally broken one from the start.
That sounds like a much simpler fix. I have a bit of time off right now so having the far more fuel efficient jeep wrangler to run around with is actually handy at the moment since I don't need a truck for at least the next week. Warranty covered so I'm just happy to get some of the intermittent problems fixed.Good luck, sounds like a PITA!
Mine seems to be something with the A/C, not the trans. Once I turn off climate control (or when in manual mode, press the A/C button to turn off A/C), the noise goes away. Made an appointment for next Wed at my dealer, hopefully I dont hear "normal characteristic".
