hello? I am a person living in Korea. While my father is in the hospital, I want to repair the engine of my father's ram vehicle, but it looks like the engine needs to be replaced.
I want to buy a used engine in the US and do an engine swap.
I have a question, my father's car is a 2008 model, is it ok to buy a used 2007 engine? There's a lot of price difference.
We will write a picture of the vehicle and part of the VIN code.
The car is 2008 DODGE RAM 1500 ST QUAD CAB 4X2 with semi hemi 4.7 engine. Since there are not many 4.7 engines, it is difficult to find information, so I inevitably ask a question. Also, below is the content written in the sale article that is being considered for buying used "Used"
Engine Assembly BOTH VALVE COVERS NG,UTR, XTHB, 4.7L, VIN P (8TH DIGIT)
Part No:~316068807"
I would like to purchase these 2007 4.7 engines, please help.
I'm not good at English and this is my first time posting on this forum. If there is any mistake or rudeness, I apologize in advance, and if there is a point, I will correct it immediately.

Your post was good.

When I checked used 4.7 engines, they come up as 2008 and up OR 2006 and 2007.
So it appears as if there is a difference between them, I am not familiar enough with the 4.7 to know if the difference is a substantial difference or a minor difference that you could easily swap the part from your used 2008 engine to the new 2006/2007 engine.

I think 2008 and up are twin plug engines vs. the older style single plug.
Does your dad's engine have 2 plugs per cylinder?

Hello, pacofortacos!
Yes, its cylinder has two plugs each. I changed the spark plugs first(but it didn't work well....) 8 cylinders and 16 sparkplugs all togather.(each cylinder has two plugs upside and downside)

HemiLonestar might know for sure as he seems to know the 4.7 engine pretty well. He will probably know for sure if the 2007 engine can be used in place of the 2008.

Are you able to open the link below and "start a conversation" with him? I don't know if you are able to being a new member.

You can not use a older 4.7 in a 2008 they redesigned then changed quite a few things It has to be 08+ The newer 4.7 is better then the older ones any ways.

No, if it's a 2008 4.7 you have to find a 2008 to 2013 4.7 engine to replace it.
