exhaust problems!

from about 2000-2500 rpms my exhaust makes the WORST rattling noise! ive been under the truck at least 4 times have completly went over every inch of the exhaust and everything is good, no visual problems, even grabbing ahold of various sections of the exhaust and shaking, kicking, hitting... everything seems good. but my god the rattling is soo loud when going down the road..

anyone else have this problem or have any ideas what could be causing this?
been happening for about 2 months now and im at wits end.
any info or advice would be much appreciated!

What kind of exhaust do you have? Sounds like it might be a broken baffle inside the muffler.

si/do chambered magnaflow.. is that common? ive had a magnaflow on every vehicle ive owned with no problems. never actually heard of that happening.

I would use a rubber mallet and smack the pipes and muffler to see if it rattled.

ive gotten under the truck and kicked (with steel toe boots) and banged on various sections of pipe including the muffler and cat with no rattling .

i really dont want to but im seriously thinking of chopping out the muffler and see what happens.

I wish! It would have already been replaced. went through everything under the truck.. its all in tip top shape....

Thats good man, Only asked cause it happened to me with one of my Fords it sounded like someone was banging/rattling on a tin can or a heatsheild was loose no bang when put in gear and was only at a certain RPM.

i have the same problem with mine i just gave up on it could never figure it out what it was and my truck 2008 4x4 hemi qc

maybe the 02 sensors? i know i had a bad rattle and found it was one of the 02 bungs had wiggled its way loose and at certain rpm's it would vibrate making a horrible metal on metal noise

Maybe, something like a loose bed, bumper, trailer ball? Beer cans rolling around... Impossible to tell.

I had the same noise with the OEM muffler when my truck was a year old. 500 rpm band around 2000-2500, rattle rattle rattle. Wouldn't do it as much when the truck was cold, but warm and when i was slowly getting up to speed, it'd rattle like a sob when it past thru those RPM. It was around the same time i was shopping for a better exhaust so i hoped it would cure the problem (and it did) with a new muffler.

ok i cut the muffler off and it was broke on the inside... no more rattle!! on the down side i have to order a new muffler now cause nobody around here has a si/do anywhere so im thinking about running a 24" resonator... as of now i have no muffler .

well i have everything already set up with dual outs with real nice magnaflow tips, i like the look so i was just going to run a Y off the resonator ...
