Express Options

Hey fella's,

Im working at Firehouse today, and one of my buddies I work with is looking into getting a 13' or 14' RAM 1500. He wanted to get the following...

13/14 Ram 1500 Express
Quad Cab
Black Appearance Package
Bed Liner
Tow Package
3.92 gears

It sounds like a nice truck, and he will be headed to the local dealer that all of my emergency services friends go for great truck deals.

It had me thinking, aside from the Black Out look, those are the main things that my current truck does not have. Does anyone know if Ram actually produces the Express model with the Tow Package, and 3.92 gears ??? does anyone have one ????

I have a tow package with the break controller on my express. At the moment I couldn't tell you for sure what my gear ratio is but I am postive its a 3.55. I also have the factory spray in bed liner.

Mine has the tow package but 3.55 gears.

<----Tow and 3.55's, BUT you can order them with 3.92 and LSD.

The 12s did. I have a rcsb with tow package, limited slip and 3.92s. Idk about the later years though.

I have '13 with 3.92, active air suspension, brake controller, 32 gal, tow pkg, backup camera and alum clad 20's. I think the only other options available I didn't get was black app and 5.0 uconnect

I looked closely at this truck in DC. I believe itwas the 3.92 gears. Definitely has the trailer brake control.

There are two rams at Manassas ram in va that are 4x4 3.92 and trailer brake control .... Almost bought until I figured I'd enjoy the slightly better mpg from 3.55's and well I like my blacked out ram..

thanks for the input. I didnt know if the express models were offered with those options, as I thought the express was just an appearence package itself, and thats it. If thats the case then I could live with another express w/ those options instead of a big horn in 2015 lol.

Well the express is an apperance package on an SLT so if you can order it on an SLT you can get it with the express from my understanding when looking for my truck.

My 12' Express doesn't have the tow package hooked up however when I went to the local trailer store the owner there, who is a close friend, said that it was silly for Dodge not to put the tow package on mine factory. All it took was two more bolts and the receiver, took him so little time and money he did it for me for free right then and there.

I think the tow package just includes the trailer brake? Mine didnt come with a hitch receiver, but came with the trailer brake

my 12' had the trailer brake also, but no hitch. my 13' has neither, thats why I was curious about the EXPRESS options list.

I dont tow, but it is nice to know if I ever needed to I could do it without thinking twice.

I specifically searched for and bought a 13' Express in white, 3.92, with the trailer tow package (comes with the hitch and trailer brake control). Though mine has the 6 speed...I don't know if they offer the 3.92 anymore with the 8 speed, if that's made it's way to the newer trucks yet.

I ordered my 2013 and it has 3.55 anti-spin, tow package (class IV hitch and upgraded trans and oil coolers). It doesn't have the brake controller as that was extra and I thought I'd add an aftermarket one for cheaper later on down the road if needed.

I wanted the 3.92 gears but since I do a lot of highway driving I figured the 3.55 would be a good compromise between the 3.21 and 3.92 ratios. However now I'm thinking of putting in 4.56 gears this summer since I want lower 1/4 mile time and faster acceleration.

I could see why you want the 3.55's then. Me personally I dont do much highway driving at all. Its all local for me so the 3.92's would prob help me out about .5 mpg increase around town, plus I will like the slightly increased pick up, and go !
