I have a couple of fender flares that are starting to separate from the body (driver rear, passenger front). It's a 2016 Laramie 1500 that when I purchased I bought the Max Care warranty. Would like to repair myself to get the satisfaction out of it, or is this something that I should let the dealer take care of?
From what I understand is that it's 3M tape that that is used. I would guess that you remove the screws and use a heat gun to unseal the tape, then replace the tape and screw the flare back into place? Thanks in advance for the replys.

In my experience, dealing with flares is better to replace. I have gotten a few trucks at the dealer with same issue and replaced the tape and reinstalled. Pain in the ass!!!! No fun task. And tape does not hold. Is very hard to remove the adhesive from the fender and not damage it. It depends on the tech/dealer that you take tour truck to, but replacement is the best route. They come black from factory so they have to be color matched. Thats my opinion, hope it helps.

Just had one of mine on an Outdoorsman fixed under warranty while getting tailgate recall done.
They said now it's recorded so bring it back in for their body shop to do it better.
Looks fine now but I'll take it back before warranty ends or sooner if required.

Well I took care of the rear drivers side flare this afternoon. It's really not all that difficult, just time consuming.
After taking the screws out, I used my heat gun and a plastic putty knife/spreader to get between the body and flare. Went nice and slow and then popped out the plastic grommet located at the top.
Used Goo gone and the heat gun to get the old adhesive off the body. Then washed the side down, dried it, and then took my buffer with some Machine Glaze and got anything that was left. I then waxed it. Looked mint. Even thought for a few minutes of taking them all off.
I then took a razor blade and very carefully took the old tape off the flare. Wiped both areas down with alcohol wipes, put the new tape on. Held the flare in place by using the grommet plug. Peeled the tape off and pressed into place. Put the screws back in and done. It is time consuming but it had to be done. Next Saturday it's the passenger front.

Thanks for the pics and looks like you did a terrific job! Where did you purchase the tape from and was it the same size of as the factory tape you removed...or did you have to trim it down? This has been the only trouble point I've had with my 2018 and after the last ordeal with Finnegan's CJDR here in Rosenberg, I will do it myself for the flare that is now peeling off. I was going to take it in under warranty to another dealer but sometimes you're much better off doing it yourself than waiting for the dealer to do it only to find his guys did a poor job.

My Laramie had same problem its the double faced tape they used to hold the molding to the body, its failing badly. My dealer said he would send my truck to body shop to re-due all four of the flares, and also said if they look like **** he will order 4 new ones so I agreed. So far its looks good , If he changed the 4 flares would of had to paint them and I have a silver truck they wouldn't come out correct so I said fix the old ones

I picked up some flex glue, cut the smallest hole in tip and flattened it with hammer a little. Was able to just get this tip in between flare and panel with just enough glue to adhere. Applied some tape to secure it till dry.
It is white and my ram is white, not sure this stuff comes in black but silicone will prolly work also.

My '18 Limited has had all four flares done, drivers side piece nearest headlight, waiting on passenger side under headlight, and the M on the tail gate done. I can't believe with all the issues that Ram owners have had that Ram hasn't done a recall on it. I have emailed Ram and expressing my displeasure with the shoddy workmanship from the factory. (My dealer Hall Ram Chrysler Jeep has bent over backwards trying to make this work.) I have had it in the shop 3 different times for this. My dealer has records of it, so hopefully, at some point this can get high visibility.

hope it goes your way. Some dealers are very good at doing things while the others fail bigly. mine is in the middle so far.Like with my struts I had to have no bull a hour and a half phone call with the service manger why my front struts had to be replaced even when you can see the oil leaking from them, finally he said yes and changed the two front struts and what a difference in the ride now.
